So this song came out last year but I’m just finding out about it now. I guess Vybz Kartel’s life turned out to be a “Miami Vice” episode, only he turned out to be the murderer who got arrested in the end. Still, I like the song so I decided to turn it into a “Miami Vice” episode.

I used themes from the lyrics (blow a kiss, fire a gun) and added some Major Lazer and outerspace keywords too then used the “Line” effect to make a cool trippy video that matches the feel of Major Lazer’s and DJ Snake “Lean On” Bad Decisions remix.

The homie Splurt makes great music for MVGEN because he is very visual and in touch with the online world. For this video I used the artwork from “No Chill” as inspiration and just put in lots of sloths and snowboarding gifs. This is just a preview from a Walshy Fire mix so we can’t wait to hear the whole song.
Not only is Walshy Fire a member of Major Lazer but he is also a great and well respected deejay in the world of reggae as well. From hosting the Noisey Jamaica series to putting out mixtapes for Chronixx, Jesse Royal and Suns Of Dub, Walshy has become an ambassador for the reggae world. So when Walshy sent me the Happy Hour Riddim 2015 riddim mix, I had to make a video for it. The riddim featuring artists like Alkaline, Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel, sends me back to the early 2000s when dancehall was running things and put me in world full of beaches, sexy women, partying and liquor so I used those elements for the video.

It’s crazy 14 years after I recorded “White Girls,” scholars are still writing about it, producers are still making remixes to it and it still seems to be a topic of conversation. I figured I’d add some visuals to this EDM/Trap remix and add it to The Mighty Casey Music Video Mixtape in order to show what MVGEN can do to the masses.
Shout out to Inner Circle who have doing their thing on the reggae scene for 40 plus years and are still going strong. Major Lazer has done a great job mashing up reggae with EDM and other genre’s. Here they are remixing Inner Circle’s classic song and the them song to “Cops,” “Bad Boys” complete with police and bad boy visuals.
